There is another breakthrough again when Economic and financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered a sum of N448,850,000 from a shop in Lagos. The Commission said, it received a tip-off from a whistle blower and acted immediately on it by invading the premises of LEGICO Shopping Plaza on Friday, April 7, at Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos. The money was discovered inside an abandoned bureau de change in Shop 64 in heaps of Ghana-Must-Go bags.
According
to the Commission: ‘The money stashed in several Ghana-Must-go bags were in
N500 and N1000 denominations, hidden in a shop awaiting conversion into foreign
currency’.
The
Commission said it had interviewed many traders at the premises, but those
interviewed claimed they never knew such money had been kept inside the shop as
whoever owned the shop hardly opened it for business.
