Alhaji Lai Muhammed, Information and Culture Minister
The Federal Government of Nigeria has finally accepted the challenge of the former ruling Party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by releasing the names of the Chieftains of the Party who looted the nation’s treasury during the sixteen years the Party was in power. The Chieftains of the Party at various times denied that the members of their party was corrupt and dared the Federal Government to name the corrupt people in their Party or to keep quiet.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed on Friday, March 30 had released the names of the Chieftains of the PDP and the amount allegedly traced to them as stolen funds. The names released include:

Uche Secondus, PDP Chairman took N200 million from the office of the National Security Agency (NSA) on 19th of February, 2015. Former PDP Financial Secretary took N600 million on 24th of October, 2014 from NSA. Olisah Metuh, former Publicity secretary took N1.4 billion from NSA. Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, Chairman DAAr Communication took N2.1 billion from NSA. Former SSA to Goodluck Jonathan, Dudafa Waripamo-Owei now on trial took N850 million from NSA. Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin, Robert Azibaola collected $40  million.

Lai Muhammed said, the Government did not make these cases up as all the cases “are in court, and the records are available. Some of the people in the list are seeking to plea bargain, and that is a fact”. Information and Culture Minister said, the list is a tip of the iceberg.
