Jesus says, whoever is angry with another without a cause cannot claim to be a child of God. Even where there is a reason for anger, Jesus advises that we should not allow it to last till the end of that day.
“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment…” Matthew 5:22a
Our duty is to obey the word of God. The fear of God is to keep His commandments. God wants us to be peace makers and be slow to anger. We should desist from cursing people. There is nothing like “Holy Ghost fire kill all my enemies”.
Oh you claim to be child of God and you have enemies! Then it is you who need deliverance. You are really the enemy and not the people who are yet to know Jesus whom you are commissioned to go and teach and show them the way to salvation. Jesus says, we should love our enemies and pray for them and not to pray against them.
“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you”. Matthew 5:43-44
You have no reward if you love only those who equally love you. What makes you a child of God is to allow yourself to be defrauded. Yes, pray for and NOT against anyone, be they your employers who use you like a slave and still pay you peanut. Pray for people persecuting Christians all over the world. Jesus says:
“For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so?” Matthew 5:46-47
God describes those who hear and not do accordingly in the following words:
“For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was”. James 1:23-24
When you are with a mirror you will see your reflection and know how you look like, but when you put the mirror away, it is not possible to know much about your image. It is interesting to mention that if any speck is on your forehead or a part of your face, you will see it and remove it when you behold yourself in a mirror, but when you are not with the mirror, unless someone draws your attention to it and even help you to remove the speck, you will not know there is a speck laying on you.
Those who hear and do what they hear are the ones that God will reward.
“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed”. James 1:25
We are to control our tongues. You should not talk recklessly. God says our religious practice is vain if we don’t humble ourselves. We deceive ourselves if we don’t consider other people’s sufferings and pains. James led by the Holy Spirit defines true and pure religion in the following words:
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. James 1:27
You say, you are a child of God through Jesus Christ, but do you care about the poor? Are your testimonies not about how many cars and property you have acquired? Don’t you know the real testimony acceptable to God is how many people you have reached to and assisted? Souls are perishing and do you confine yourself to your local church, doing nothing to spread the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ! Don’t you know that is not the will of God that any person should die in sin and go to hell fire?
Be warned! “Praise! Praise! Praise the Lord!!! My God has done it again! I have just been blessed with another brand new car” is not testimony. Unbelievers are buying cars and building houses too. Acquisitions of material things of this world are not testimonies.
Testimonies are: when you succeed in converting a soul, you pray in the name of Jesus and people miraculously get healed, you pray and deliverance take place. Please go out and preach about the Kingdom of God to people. Be informed that you have no right to call someone an unbeliever until you reach out to him and tell him what you believe, and he refuses to believe. No one is an unbeliever until he refuses to believe after an effort to convince him to believe what you believe.
