A pregnant teenage woman identified as Miss. Queen Ada Amah was killed along with Miss. Elizabeth Mini Wednesday, April 18, when they went to a stream to fetch water. The gunmen opened the womb of the woman after killing her and took the unborn baby away.
The incident took place in Rumuoro village in Ogbakiri clan, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State. Two men were also victims of what the Police said, was carried out by some cultists. According to the Vanguard newspaper’s report, two men who were also killed were Pastor Joseph Nheme and Mr. Kingsley Owhonda. Both men were fishing when they were killed.
According to a community source that preferred to remain anonymous, Pastor Nheme was fishing with his son when he was shot at the riverside. His corpse was taken away while his son, Godknows narrowly escaped. Mr. Kingsley Owhonda was abducted at the riverside where he was fishing and taken to a bush “where he was tied to a tree and cut in pieces until he died”.
The incident was confirmed by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Nnamdi Omoni who said the command had ‘launched a manhunt to arrest the perpetrators of the act and prosecute them’.
Rivers and other States in the Southern Nigeria where ritual and cultic killings happen frequently are Christians dominated States, leaving people to wonder what is the difference between people who kill in the name of religion and people who kill for money/power?
