Nehemiah’s Prayer:
‘’And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven’’. Nehemiah 1:4
Nehemiah is the type of person our God is looking for
in every society today. God is looking for praying people. God doesn’t want
people to form a Pressure Group in His name to criticise the government of any
nation. The ‘’Christian Association of
Nigeria’’ (CAN) is an antichrist Movement.
When a clergy man uses his exalted position to
criticise government activities, he is working against the commandments of God.
The problems of Nigeria are seventy per cent caused by religious leaders,
especially Christian leaders who gather people in the name of church, and
exploit them through tithes and offerings.
Nehemiah said ‘’When
I heard these words…’’ that he was sorely grieved for his country and his
people. Nehemiah heard what happened to the Jews who were in captivity and the
wanton destruction of Jerusalem, and the news grieved him. The news of the
sufferings of the Jews troubled one man.
‘’And they said
unto me, the remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are
in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down,
and the gates thereof are burned with fire’’. Nehemiah 1:3
That news in verse 3 broke Nehemiah’s heart, and in
verse 4, he sat down on the ground and wept bitterly and mourned for many days,
fasting and praying for God’s mercy and intervention.
Nehemiah prayed to God of heaven to forgive his people
and ‘’have mercy for them’’. He prayed day and night to God:
‘’Let thine ear
now be attentive and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy
servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of
Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we
have sinned against thee: both I and my father’s house have sinned’’.
Neh.1:6
Nehemiah confessed that the people including himself
had sinned against God. He said there was no one of them who was not corrupt. He
said their problems were caused by all of them and not only the sins and misconduct
of the king and people in authority. He recognised that they were all individually
responsible for the problems bedevilling the nation, because of their disobedience
and failure to keep the commandments and statues which God ‘’commandment thy servant
Moses’’.
What is
our own reaction to the problems of our nation in our time? Pastors and
General-Overseers endorse protest against the government. They encourage
looting. They call for break-up of the country. They join others to call for
restructuring of the country. Shame on you Pastors and General Overseers!
Someone told me that Prophets in the Old Testament
used to criticise the government and kings, and I asked him to name one who did
that on his own without an order or instruction from God. In the Old Testament,
the Kings were chosen and anointed by God through the Prophets. Now people
elected their leaders. Then God who chose and anointed kings used to control
them directly.
In the Old Testament, whenever a king derailed by
leading people to worship other gods or where there was a failure to obey the
word of God, God used the Prophets to warn the king. If the king repented, he
was forgiven; if the king hearkened not the warning, God in some cases caused
him to be put to death and anointed another in his stead.
In the New Testament, when John the Baptist took it
upon himself to criticise King Herod, God turned His eyes away from him, and
John was beheaded. Yes, John was beheaded because it was not part of his mission
or assignment to criticise or condemn rulers, kings and government of this
world. Remember, John even sent for Jesus to come to his rescue, but Jesus
ignored or declined his request and took no action.
‘’Now when John had heard in the prison the works of
Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do
we look for another?’’ Matthew 11:2-3.
Jesus’s answer to John’s question or enquiry
is:
Go and show John again those things which ye do
hear and see:
The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the
lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor
have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. Matthew 11:4-6
The word again was underlined by me and was used by Jesus because John who introduced Jesus to the people, had Him baptised, saw and heard about the miracles performed by Him, in his agony appeared to doubt whether Jesus was the expected Messiah.
This is the final Warning again to Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) Leaders and Pastors, who form the habit of criticising the government activities instead of preaching the gospel, heal the sick and perform other miracles they are called to do to be focused to their duty. According to some Nigerian National Dailies, ''Pastor Adeboye Endorses EndSars Protest''; ''CAN Supports EndSars Protest'' and you think nothing is spiritually wrong with that?
Ijuo Okpe is sent to
warn again and he has done his assignment.
Great message to men of God and the general public. Let's use the grace of God to build and not to pull down.

ReplyDeleteMore anointing sir. I pray that God should save us from misusing his anointing by revealing to us the purpose of his power.
