''BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS'' Matthew 7:15
Jesus has warned us to beware of false prophets. False prophets and teachers are greedy and worldly. The primary reason false prophets go into the ministry is to amass wealth. They appear pious, but their hearts are full of evils. They are gospel merchants. They are very gullible; they seize every opportunity to prey on the ignorant followers or worshippers in the church.Their messages are centred on money and material
things of this world. They teach how people can acquire wealth, believing that
if the members of the church are rich, the church will not lack. They rarely
preach about the kingdom of God. They rarely talk about holiness and
righteousness, because this would make the members of the church not to rock
the boat. They want the members to go out and operate in the world like others.
They want the members to conduct themselves in their places of work like
non-believers. Cheat if you can; steal if you have any opportunity to steal…if
you confess your sin later, God is merciful and He is ever ready to forgive
you.
False ministers promote tithes and offerings, and
teach or preach that if you don’t tithe, things will be tight for you. They put
fears in the life of members. False prophets see witches and wizards behind
people’s penury. According to them, wicked people or enemies are responsible
for every problem and challenge in the life of members.
False prophets talk negative about either your aged father or mother being responsible for your problems or your uncle or cousin causing your
downfall. They preach about ancestral curses. They make people believe that they need deliverance and they organise
deliverance services from time to time to show how powerful they are. False
pastors or prophets can never impart knowledge of the word of God in the
members.
False prophets are lascivious and materialistic. They
always want the members of their church to make money to bring to the church.
They fear that if the members are righteous, they will not romance with the
world and this would affect the church financially.
False teachers and pastors want to buy every good thing
in life. They want to have every latest car. They want to acquire any luxury
that is available. They are very hedonistic. They want to live better than the
worldly people to show that they are pastoring a rich church or to prove that
they are truly prophets of God.
These false prophets are not bearing good fruits, so
hell is their final destination. Remember Jesus says: ‘Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast
into the fire.’’ Matthew 7: 20
We are Ambassadors here. Our mission is to go out and
preach the kingdom of God and its righteousness. Apostle Paul says we are ‘ambassadors
in chain’, therefore we are warned not to lust after the things we can see
which are ephemeral.
Do not think that on the last day your excuse that, I
was misled by the false teachings of my pastors or prophets will be
acceptable. There is Holy Spirit in you teaching you what is right and what is
wrong. The word of God is available to you to study. Bible is available for you, so you are not expected to wait or depend on others to teach you or preach to you.
God says we should study His book of law which is Bible, and meditate on it daily.
On the last day, Jesus says the following will happen
to both the prophets who were wolves in sheep clothing and the untrue
believers:
Wherefore by
their fruits ye shall know them.
Not every
one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but
he that doeth the will of my Father which is heaven.
Many will
say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will
I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23
