Apologetics Defense: Malam Idris Bauchi preach on the Topic that "Salah" is "Selah" in the Bible.
My response to his teachings: Dear, Malam Salah is not Selah. Salah is an Arabic word while Selah is Hebrews.
Selah is a derivative of the Hebrew root salal (note the s and l) which means to raise voices in praise or make the instruments louder. Selah is an acronym for a phrase in Numbers 14:19 Please forgive the sins of this people.
An example: Salvation belongs to the LORD your blessing be on your people! #Selah (Psalm 3:8 KJV)
Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory! #Selah (Psalm 24:10 KJV)
Salah also known as namaz, is worship performed by Muslims. Facing the qibla, Muslims pray first standing and later kneeling or sitting on the ground, reciting prescribed prayers and phrases from the Quran as they bow and prostrate themselves in between.
The word Selah is a Hebrew word that occurs seventy-one times (71) in the book of Psalms and three times (3) in Habakkuk.
The seventy-one appearances in Psalms happen within thirty-nine (39) of the Psalms, as the word Selah is often repeated within the same Psalm.
1 O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me;
2 many are saying of my soul, there is no salvation for him in God. Selah
3 But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
4 I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah
5 I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.
7 Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.
8 Salvation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people! Selah.
Malam, 'Selah' is not the same 'Salah', please kindly go back to the mosque and preach the truth to ur people, that's a chronic false teachings.
