Sofia Ahmed (22), from Lower Juba, Somalia, left Islam to follow Jesus in March. She soon paid a terrible price for doing so.
Her uncle, Sharif Hussein, questioned her why she hadn't been going to the Mosque prayers on Friday.
Sofia then shared she received Christ and encouraged him to put his faith in Jesus.
“Her uncle returned with three other male relatives. Hussein asked her again if she had converted to Christianity. ‘I kept quiet,’ Sofia said. Her relatives immediately began attacking her with sticks and struck her nose with a sharp object.”
“She has remained committed to her faith despite pressure to renounce it. Her condition has improved but her recovery is expected to take weeks where she faces mounting medical expenses.”
Heavenly Father, thank you for the courage that Sofia demonstrated by witnessing to her uncle. She has suffered greatly at his hands for following Jesus. Bring her back to health quickly. Provide for her many needs especially in covering her medical expenses. Give Sofia wisdom to know where to live and support herself since she has been attacked by her family members. May the underground Christian community surround her with encouragement and support. May the hope of salvation in Jesus continue to spread in the hostile nation of Somalia. In Your name we pray. Amen.
