| Amina and Shamila |
Amina and Shamila are sisters living in Kibenge, Uganda. They chose to leave Islam and make the life-changing decision to follow Jesus on August 26.
Their Muslim father, Muhamud, found out about it and was very upset. He told them, “he would act to fulfill Islamic law since they had rejected Islam.”
On Sunday, September 6, around midnight, he spread gasoline all around the house where Amina and Shamila were sleeping. He lit fire expecting them to perish in the flames.
The girls smelled smoke and were able to escape by removing some loose bricks in the wall of the house. The fire destroyed everything.
Amina said after the fire that “she and her sister’s faith has grown stronger than before. We are happy to say that the fire consumed our shelter but did not consume our faith and hope in Jesus Christ.”
Heavenly Father, thank You for waking up Amina and Shamila and helping them to escape the terrible fire that their father set. We ask that You would protect them from further harm from their father, relatives or others who would still seek to harm them. Provide for their needs. Surround them with Christians who can provide the encouragement and guidance to them in the coming months. Give them a safe place to live. Bring their father to justice for the crime he committed. Perhaps he might even be convicted of the terrible act he did against his own children. Continue to strengthen the faith of Amina and Shamila as they trust in You for their lives in the future. In Your mighty name we ask. Amen.
