A few days ago, I shared how I took a six-day journey to escape captivity. I couldn’t tell everything in that post, so here is the continuation.

When I reached Nigeria, I stayed with the church I had been fellowshipping with online, which my now-husband oversees. I thought I was finally safe, but my family was still searching for me.

One mistake I made was keeping the SIM card I had used in Guinea. Through it, they traced someone who had helped me escape and threatened to put him in jail until they eventually learned that I was in Nigeria.

At that time, my family believed that something had gone wrong with me and that I needed to be “rescued.” They accused my then-fiancΓ©, now my husband, of abducting and influencing me.

The matter soon escalated. A petition of abduction was filed, authorities became involved, and police eventually came to the church. My then-fiancΓ© was taken into custody while I went into hiding because no one wanted them to take me back to Guinea.

Eventually, I went to the police station so he could be released.

He was released, but I was handed over to the Guinean Embassy in Nigeria and they put on a flight back to Guinea.

While in the plane, I thought I might escape when I landed, but family members and security officers were already waiting for me.

I was taken home and monitored even more closely.

They compelled me to delete my Facebook account because I was already using it to share my story and they didn’t want me to tell anyone what was happening.

But I did not delete the account permanently I only deactivated for awhile.

Deep inside, I knew that one day I would use that same platform to tell people what Jesus had done for me. And today, that is exactly what I am doing.

Those days were some of the darkest days of my life, but God gave me grace to endure them. My then fiancΓ© (now husband) really stood by me and encouraged and the church really prayed for me day and night and  above all, God preserved my faith.

With all these things I never became discouraged because I knew whom I have believed in is the Only way and for me to live is Christ and d!e is gain. I knew I was never on the losing side.

I’ll share later how I finally made it back to the U.S.

Until then, please keep holding on to Jesus He is very real.
