There are some things people do in the name of religion that would leave even the devil astonished.
Such is what happened in October 2012 in the Khoi Ratta district of Kotli, in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. It is a story that reveals the tragic reality of “honour killing” practiced regularity in certain parts of the Middle East and South Asia in the name of “religion”.
On October 29, 2012. Anusha was standing near her family home when a young man rode past on a motorcycle. Naturally, the 15-year-old turned her head to look. Watching from nearby, her father, Muhammad Zafar, became consumed by immediate, irrational rage. In his eyes, his daughter looking at a boy twice was an unforgivable act that brought shame upon his family.
Zafar began beating Anusha severely. Then, with the assistance of his wife, Zaheen Akhtar, they took a bottle of concentrated acid and poured it over their daughter's body.
What followed was two days of unimaginable cruelty. To cover up what they had done, the parents locked Anusha away in a room, ignoring her agonising cries and delaying any medical care. It was not until October 31, when it was clear she was dying, that they finally took her to a state-run hospital in Kotli.
At the hospital, the mother attempted to spin a lie, telling doctors that Anusha had tried to commit suicide by pouring acid on herself. But the attending physician immediately knew it was a cover-up.
The third-degree burns covered nearly 70% of Anusha's body, including her face, scalp, and eyes. It was physically impossible for her to have inflicted injuries that severe on herself. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Anusha succumbed to her injuries and died.
Just imagine the pain this little girl went through! Just imagine!
On camera, showing absolutely no remorse, the father detailed how looking at the motorcycle rider drove him to commit the act. In a chilling recorded interview, the mother, Zaheen, recalled her daughter's final moments, saying Anusha begged for forgiveness and promised never to look again. But the mother told the camera, “By then, I had already thrown the acid. It was her destiny to die this way.” God forbid!
This is what we call " Partners in crime".
How can you kill your own daughter without remorse? That is a demon of religion at work.
Hear this one, it was secretly reported that the main reason Anusha was brutally killed by her parents because she bravely stood up to them and refused an arranged marriage to an old man. Do you think that was why her father was so angry about her looking at a young boy?
Whatever the case, is there any reason to douse your baby daughter with acid? Even if she looked at a boy with lust, would that justify such cruelty? That is what we are saying about Islam and other religion.
Jesus died for our sins, including the sins of all Muslims. There is no more sacrifice for sin. No religion has the right to kill anyone for any sin they commit or for saying or doing anything against its god or gods.
Hebrews 10:12 (ESV): “But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.”
To all Muslim, I appeal to you in Jesus name, come to the light of Jesus Christ now. To the only one who loves you. True honour that God gives cannot be built upon the blood of an innocent person, no matter the guise.
To believers, if you sin, there is power in the blood of Jesus! Do not allow guilt to drive you into hiding from God. Confess your sins to God, repent sincerely, and receive His mercy through Jesus Christ.
There is hope in Christ. There is forgiveness in Christ. There is cleansing in His blood, and in Him alone is eternal life.
Come to Jesus. Do not run from the ONLY One who can save you from sin, death and hell.
Jesus Cometh!
