Questions I Respectfully Pose to My Muslim Brothers and Sisters in Islam!

"In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful."

To my Muslim brothers and sisters who defend or excuse the barbaric, murderous acts committed by Muslim extremists in Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and other places! I respectfully pose these questions, especially since Islam teaches us that Almighty Allah is most benevolent and most merciful, and our religion is a religion of peace:

1. Why does Saudi Arabia, the centre of Islam, take a human life for an "immoral act"(not murder) instead of showing mercy to the couple or imposing a less severe punishment?

2. Would Almighty Allah permit the mortal beings He created to be beheaded as though they were lifeless objects within our human world?

3. If the couple had been citizens of the UK, US, or Israel, would Saudi Arabia have beheaded them as it did this couple?

4. If we Muslims can condemn Netanyahu for the genocidal war in Gaza, what allows us to morally defend such barbarism in Saudi Arabia; a nation of Islam?

5. How can I explain this heinous crime against humanity to my non-religious brothers and sisters who hope to embrace Islam?

6. Who among us is immortal or saintly enough to claim never to have committed lesser sins like those attributed to this couple in our daily lives?

7. Can this doctrine of execution truly be reconciled with Islam, humanism, or our common or shared humanity?

8. How many of us could honestly justify this ghastly conduct to our coworkers, students, and children?

9. If Islam signifies peace, why do some Muslims remain unmoved by the beheading of innocent people and other terrorist attacks targeting non-Muslims or Muslims?

10. With a clear and morally renewed conscience, how can we proudly tell the world, "I am a Muslim," while aspiring to undertake hijrah or a holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia?

If we cannot answer all these questions honestly, we should all reject hypocrisy and violence.

Religions, as humans practice them, have inflicted more destruction on the world than accidents and natural disasters. In this 21st-century civilisation, our common humanity should take precedence over religious beliefs! I am lucky that my parents introduced me to humanism in Islam before I knew fundamentalists in Islam! As a law enforcement officer, many colleagues and officers have become Muslims through my humanity, equity, prosocial interaction, and professionalism.

As human beings, we must not destroy what Almighty Allah created and what we are unable to create or recreate! Live and let live; allow the poor to live as the rich do. Sadly, in our world today, the religious poor are treated as cannon fodder, while the poor continually justify the evil committed against them by wealthy religious leaders! What a beautiful world, being destroyed by its own religious people!
