1. Nobody got seriously hurt when the plane made a sudden nosedive descent, not even those standing in line for the bathroom. This is unbelievable once you look at the details.
2. During the first plunge, the plane dropped more than 16,000 feet in just 35 seconds, accelerating to around 700 mph — near supersonic! Yet somehow it remained largely intact and flyable. Some say the plane could have totally disintegrated.
3. The pilot, Captain Smit Machchhar, after being stabbed and losing a critical amount of blood, had the presence of mind and succeeded in unlocking the cockpit door, before collapsing.
4. While the plane was in a sharp decline, passengers made it to the cockpit, managed to push the door open despite the wounded captain lying against it, and restrained the terrorist co-pilot. The co-pilot was violent, strong, and armed with an axe. Yet in those insane conditions, three passengers succeeded in restraining him with nothing but airplane headphone wires.
5. The co-pilot was stopped right before he managed to completely sabotage the airplane’s systems. Seconds later would have been too late.
6. The passenger who had succeeded in fighting off the co-pilot, Yaniv Hayoun, knew exactly how to reverse the airplane’s descent — something he said he learned from watching Air Craft Investigation.
7. The plane survived the recovery from the dive without breaking apart or losing flight capability. A commercial pilot who recreated the dive for CNN in a flight simulator demonstrated how extreme the overspeed and forces involved in recovering from such a descent would have been.
8. There happened to be a second Flydubai flight crew, with two pilots, on the plane.
9. The plane landed safely even with the rudder torn out, and likely with damaged leaking hydraulic systems.
10. An Israeli dentist on board, Dr. Shota Musayev, managed to save the life of the critically-injured pilot, in unimaginably difficult conditions.
Thank God, 170 lives were saved —- and very possibly more.
There are more details we’re yet to understand. The plane made two sharp descents and reverses. Who stopped each one?
What was the terrorist’s intention? Some (such as Yaniv Ehrlich, who maps it out on X), hypothesize that co-pilot was aiming to crash into the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a Jordanian facility hosting US Air Force assets including F-35s.
This Air Base has been repeatedly targeted by the Iranian regime. The flight’s downward trajectory certainly seems to have been aimed in that direction. Time will tell us what really happened behind the scenes.
What is clear, is that G-d performed a great miracle here, and several heroic humans had the merit to be part of making it happen.
Did I miss any miracles? Add it in the comments!
